A complete guide to calculating the area of external wall scaffolding

1. Calculation rules for scaffolding
(i) When calculating the internal and external wall scaffolding, the area occupied by door and window openings, empty circle openings, etc. shall not be deducted.
(ii) When the height of the same building is different, it should be calculated separately according to different heights.
(iii) For projects where the scope of the contracted project by the general contractor does not include external wall decoration projects or the external wall decoration cannot be constructed using the main construction scaffolding, the main external scaffolding or decorative external scaffolding projects can be applied respectively.

2. External scaffolding
(i) The height of the external wall scaffolding of the building is calculated from the designed outdoor floor to the eaves (or parapet top); the project volume is calculated in square meters according to the length of the external edge of the external wall (for wall buttresses with a protruding wall width greater than 240mm, the calculation is carried out according to the dimensions shown in the figure and included in the external wall length) multiplied by the height.
(ii) For masonry heights below 15m, the calculation is based on single-row scaffolding; for heights above 15m or less than 15m, but the exterior wall doors, windows and decoration area exceeds 60% of the exterior wall surface area (or the exterior wall is a cast-in-place concrete wall or lightweight block wall), the calculation is based on double-row scaffolding; for building heights exceeding 30m, the calculation can be based on double-row scaffolding of steel cantilever platform according to the project conditions.
(iii) Independent columns (cast-in-place concrete frame columns) are calculated by adding 3.6m to the outer perimeter of the column structure shown in the diagram, multiplied by the designed column height in square meters, and the single-row external scaffolding project is applied. For cast-in-place concrete beams and walls, the calculation is based on the height between the designed outdoor floor or the upper surface of the floor slab and the bottom of the floor slab, multiplied by the net length of the beam and wall in square meters, and the double-row external scaffolding project is applied.
(iv) For steel platform cantilever steel pipe frames, the calculation is based on the length of the outer edge of the exterior wall multiplied by the designed height in square meters. The quota for platform overhang width has been comprehensively determined and will be applied according to the set height of the quota item when used.
